Lazyweb vs BuiltWith: Product Research or Technology Lookup?
Choose BuiltWith or Wappalyzer to investigate a website’s technology stack. Choose Lazyweb to study product screens and flows. A screenshot cannot tell you which analytics service runs behind it, and a detected framework cannot tell you whether the checkout is any good.
Start with the question
“What changed in this onboarding?” needs dated screens and the surrounding flow. “Which sites use this checkout provider?” needs technology data. Keep those two research outputs separate, even when one agent collects both. [1] [2]
BuiltWith vs Wappalyzer for an API workflow
BuiltWith’s Domain API returns technology records with first- and last-detected dates, plus domain metadata. Those dates help distinguish a recent observation from a historical one; they do not prove a technology is still deployed today.
The standard Domain API accepts up to 16 domains in a request. BuiltWith lists pay-as-you-go credits at $99 for 2,000, with one credit per returned domain and no expiry. Some subscriptions include API credits; check the allowance rather than assuming a plan has none. [2] [3]
Budget for freshness
Wappalyzer documents a Business-plan requirement, up to 10 URLs per request and 10 requests per second. Ordinary lookups cost one credit per URL. Live recursive scans cost five, require a callback URL, and return asynchronously; a missing initial technology list can mean the crawl is still running.
For an immediate live answer, use live=true with recursive=false. This shallow mode supports one URL per request and trades coverage for a synchronous result. [4]
Compare the bill, not just the credit
Wappalyzer lists Business at $450 per month with 20,000 included API credits; included credits expire after 60 days. BuiltWith’s listed $99 package buys 2,000 non-expiring credits. These are different commitments, not a direct price-per-result ranking.
For a small occasional batch, compare the cash you must spend. For recurring work, compare usable results within the allowance. Live scan multipliers, unused credits and the quality of the returned evidence can change the answer. Prices were checked October 7, 2026. [5] [3]
Test the domains you actually care about
Our recommendation: sample sites from your real workload, including ones you own whose stack you can verify. Ask both providers for the same domains during the same window. Record the scan mode, observation dates, known technologies found, false positives, incomplete responses and credits consumed.
Rank them by usable answers per dollar, with a separate freshness requirement. Keep an empty result distinct from “this site does not use that technology.” We have not run that accuracy or latency benchmark, so this page does not declare a universal winner.
Connect the agent after choosing the data
BuiltWith lists a hosted MCP endpoint, and Wappalyzer publishes an official MCP integration. Compare the required lookup operations and authentication before connecting. MCP availability alone does not establish detection accuracy.
For a batch enrichment job, test BuiltWith’s standard multi-domain lookup first. For an agent waiting on a fresh single-page check, test Wappalyzer’s shallow live mode. These are suggested starting points, not claims that either capability is exclusive or more accurate. [6] [7] [3]
Where Lazyweb fits
Use Lazyweb when the next question is about the experience: which choice appears before a trial, how a balance is explained, or where a recovery action sits. Its references can inform a product hypothesis. They cannot verify a website’s stack or establish that a UI change improved conversion. [1] [8]
