Async: Specialized digital labor for complex small-business workflows

Async configures and deploys AI agents inside law, healthcare, real-estate and other small-business systems to automate repeatable administrative work.

Async deploys specialized AI agents for small businesses with complex administrative work. It fits a law firm, clinic or real-estate business that has a repeatable process trapped in legacy software and cannot justify a human for every step.

What it does

Async’s current site describes a service-led deployment: the customer explains how the business works, Async configures an agent across its tools and the team expands the workflow after measuring value. The current public focus is law firms, while the YC launch also names healthcare, real estate and childcare.

The company’s product is not a generic chatbot. The launch describes agents scheduling clinical therapy appointments, drafting long legal documents, entering data into legacy legal systems and handling real-estate closing documents. The current site emphasizes administrative work and specialized agents that learn the business’s workflows, software and goals. That is a useful fit for an owner who knows the process but lacks time to rebuild it for AI.

Async’s homepage lists customer stories and quotes from law firms, and says it offers zero data retention options, end-to-end encryption, strict access policies and SOC 2 Type I certification. These are company and customer claims to verify in procurement. The customer stories are evidence of the intended deployment motion, not an independent productivity study.

Founder context and tradeoffs

The YC profile identifies Ben Smith as CEO, with a history of building and selling software, and Connor Park as CTO, with computer-science training at Michigan. The company’s two-person team and guided configuration model suggest a hands-on deployment path rather than instant self-serve setup.

Pricing is not public. The buyer should ask what systems can be operated, what human approvals remain, how the agent is monitored, how data is deleted and who owns the workflow configuration. The more complex the business, the more important the boundary between “configured for you” and “managed service” becomes.

Editorial take

I would shortlist Async for a small business with one expensive, repeatable administrative process and a willing operator who can review the first runs. Start with one queue and one success metric. If the workflow changes every day or requires unbounded professional judgment, a specialized agent will struggle to stay reliable.
