Bystreet: hotel ownership intelligence

Bystreet maps hotel ownership and decision-makers so hospitality firms can find qualified relationships across a global property market.

What it does

Bystreet is a hotel ownership and decision-maker intelligence platform. It maps properties, beneficial owners and key contacts so hospitality firms can find the people behind hotels rather than rely on generic property lists or local research. The YC profile describes coverage of more than 16,000 hotels in its earlier launch and 300,000+ globally; the current homepage presents the broader ownership database.

The fit is a hotel brand, supplier, operator, broker or capital allocator that needs a qualified hospitality target list. Bystreet’s value depends on entity resolution and freshness: the right owner attached to the right property is more important than a large record count.

Why I’d look closer

The product is practical for a sales or expansion team. The current site shows a property record with hotel classification, beneficial owner and contact information; the YC launch says its agents combine public, government and offline sources into an identity graph. The directory lists hospitality customers including Marriott International, Choice Hotels, Wyndham Hotels & Resorts and Hotel Equities; those are company-reported customer claims.

The founder context fits a data product. The YC biographies describe Charlie Maki with Harvard computer science and a prior startup scaled to $1M ARR and 10,000 paid users, Corey Anderson as a co-founder/CEO, and Cameron Hake with CS/data-science and Navy sonar experience.

What I’d ask

How is ownership verified and refreshed, how are beneficial-owner and contact fields sourced, and what geography is strongest today? I’d sample one market against public records and a sales team’s known accounts, then measure match rate, freshness, opt-out handling and downstream meeting quality. Pricing was not exposed in the sources checked.

My editorial take

Bystreet is a good fit for hospitality teams where ownership opacity is the main sales bottleneck. The identity-graph framing is stronger than a generic hotel database. The proof is freshness and decision-maker accuracy at the buyer’s target geography.
