Brighterway: medical-record review support for workers' compensation claims

AI workflow that organizes, deduplicates, and surfaces relevant facts from large workers' compensation medical-record files.

Brighterway is an AI claims-intelligence product for workers' compensation teams that review large medical records. The useful buyer question is whether it can reduce the time physicians and claims handlers spend finding relevant facts, without turning an automated summary into a medical or claims decision.

What it does

The YC profile says Brighterway structures and deduplicates disorganized PDF records, then highlights information relevant to a specialty, injury, or claim. Its current homepage was reachable but returned no readable product detail in the reviewed fetch; the page title and description position Brighterway as a claims-intelligence platform (YC company profile; Brighterway homepage).

Why it fits

The product's wedge is narrower than generic healthcare summarization. A claims file can contain thousands of pages, repeated documents, and clinical detail that matters only to a particular injury or specialty. Surfacing a timeline and the relevant evidence could make a physician's review more focused and give a claims handler a clearer starting point.

The founder background is public but modest. YC describes Apostol as a computer-science graduate who works on reviewing medical records with AI, and Wells as a statistics and data-science graduate who previously led a data project at another startup (YC company profile). That explains the data-review orientation without establishing medical accuracy.

The current evidence leaves practical questions open. A buyer should ask how duplicates, contradictory records, missing pages, handwritten notes, and specialty-specific relevance are handled; how every extracted fact links back to the source page; and what clinicians can correct or export. The public sources do not show pricing, integrations, customer outcomes, review data, or a current product walkthrough. This is a workflow profile, not medical advice or an assessment of a claim's merits.

Short version: Brighterway is a reasonable research candidate for a workers' compensation organization drowning in records. The purchase case depends on source-linked review quality and a clear human decision boundary, not on the promise of a shorter summary alone.
