Blaxel: stateful, fast-resuming infrastructure for autonomous agents

Agent infrastructure with isolated microVM sandboxes, persistent storage, batch jobs, MCP hosting, and programmable networking.

Blaxel is infrastructure for autonomous agents: isolated microVM sandboxes, persistent storage, batch jobs, MCP hosting, and programmable networking. The buyer decision is whether an agent workload needs stateful, fast-resuming environments and controlled egress rather than a general cloud VM or short-lived function.

What it does

Blaxel says each agent can receive an isolated sandbox that scales to zero when idle, resumes with memory state intact, and connects to persistent files, shared drives, model gateways, MCP servers, and network controls. The platform supports batch jobs, persistent filesystems, agent drives, static IPs, proxy routing, and region selection (Blaxel homepage; Blaxel docs).

Why it fits

The differentiator is treating an agent as a stateful, long-running process. Agents need to pause, resume, keep files, call tools, and preserve context without paying for an always-on machine. Blaxel combines those runtime concerns with network controls and MCP hosting, so the builder can keep an agent's environment and access policy close together.

The pricing model rewards bursty workloads: active compute is billed while sandboxes run, while suspended time is designed not to count as active CPU. A buyer should test memory persistence, cold and warm resume, multi-agent storage, secret injection, outbound allow-lists, regional data residency, and the cost of the full application—not just sandbox CPU (Blaxel pricing). The homepage lists SOC 2, HIPAA, ISO 27001, GDPR, and CCPA language; those are source-published compliance claims and should be checked in the trust center.

The founders bring cloud-platform depth. YC describes Sinaï and Drappier as repeat founders with a prior cloud exit, Joffre as an OVHcloud infrastructure engineer, and Ploujoux as a ForePaaS platform builder (YC company profile).

Short version: Blaxel is a strong fit for agents that need real computers, persistent state, and controlled networking. Compare it against ordinary containers using the workload's idle time, resume latency, and data-boundary requirements.
