Explore browser-verified WebMCP evidence across websites, captured tools and implementation states.

Census 2026-09-03 · tokens expire 2026-11-17 · archived snapshot. A dated snapshot, not a live monitor: every observed origin-trial token expires on 2026-11-17.

- 6,934 production sites inspected
- 4,919 with WebMCP evidence
- 30,898 tools captured
- 2,420 registered without flags

## Eight observed states.

| State | Sites | What we saw |
| --- | ---: | --- |
| Native | 2,236 | Tools registered for an anonymous visitor in stock Chrome, with no flags set. |
| Polyfill | 184 | A JavaScript shim registers the tools, so Chrome’s own agent never sees them. |
| Primed | 421 | An edge agent bridge is installed with the WebMCP pack switched off. Two switches from live, not one: the pack, then an origin-trial token the platform does not mint. |
| Tools, no trial token | 1,336 | Registers tools, and we did not detect a Chrome origin-trial token. Until WebMCP reaches stable, a token decides whether the browser exposes them. |
| Token, no tools | 101 | Serves a valid origin-trial token; we saw no tools register on the surfaces tested. |
| Gated | 641 | WebMCP evidence sits behind a login or a bot wall. |
| No evidence | 1,970 | No WebMCP evidence on the surfaces tested. |
| Unreachable | 45 | The domain did not respond. |

## How we read the evidence.

This is a dated snapshot, not a live monitor. Every production candidate is searchable, including sites where no tools were found. A registration shows that a page exposed a tool; it does not establish that an agent used it.

**Method.** Candidates came from HTTP Archive, Chrome use counters, origin-trial tokens decoded from headers and markup, urlscan, PublicWWW, GitHub, npm and public lists. Each was loaded in Chrome 152 twice: as a normal visitor, then with the trial forced on.

**Trial context.** At verification, Chrome required origin-trial enrolment to expose native WebMCP. Code, trial tokens and actual registrations are recorded separately. The observed tokens had an expiry of 17 November 2026.

**Outside the directory.** 249 demo, 140 tooling, 20 dev. SDKs, documentation, starter templates, registries, scanners and hackathon entries were tracked but excluded from the production-site list.

**Reading the counts.** Site totals describe this inspection set. The timeline counts pages, not sites. The platform-wide Shopify crawl is a separate population; these numbers should not be added together.
