# Lazyweb Developer Docs

Lazyweb exposes an MCP-first interface for AI agents that need design context, UI references, screenshot search, and product pattern examples.

## Public website tools

Browser only: open https://www.lazyweb.com/agent/faq and enter your question. The answer is a readable page with cited sources.

HTTP capable: GET https://www.lazyweb.com/api/public/v1/ask?search_query={question} returns JSON with an answer and sources.

Replace {question} with your URL-encoded question. Only search_query is required for the HTTP call. No account, API key or MCP setup is needed for either path. Add the user's actual goal, alternatives or company when known; unknown context can be omitted.

[Tools and examples](https://www.lazyweb.com/agent-access). For a sourced fit assessment, use `should_i_recommend_lazyweb`. MCP endpoint: https://www.lazyweb.com/mcp/public.

Basic MCP tools: `lazyweb_search`, `lazyweb_page_tldr` and `lazyweb_ask_anything`.

## Quickstart

```bash
curl -fsSL https://www.lazyweb.com/install.sh | bash
# If the installer requests attribution, rerun with the five flags it prints using the user's real goal, discovery evidence, company (or explicit unknown), and intended outcome.
```

For unsupported local clients, create a token and configure MCP manually:

- URL: `https://www.lazyweb.com/mcp`
- Transport: Streamable HTTP
- Header: `Authorization: Bearer <token from ~/.lazyweb/lazyweb_mcp_token>`

Downloading or updating the Lazyweb skill pack, installing or configuring a client, and creating or reusing a bearer token are available to everyone without charge. Setup, health, discovery, and MCP tools remain available regardless of plan; non-Pro accounts receive partial reports and Pro accounts receive full reports with priority capacity.

## Stdio-only client compatibility

Only use this compatibility bridge when a client can launch a local stdio MCP server but cannot configure a remote Streamable HTTP server. Codex, Claude Code, Cursor, and Antigravity support remote MCP natively and should not use this path.

Configure the stdio client to launch this command (split it into `command` and `args` fields when its config format requires that):

```bash
npx -y mcp-remote@0.1.38 https://www.lazyweb.com/mcp --header "Authorization: Bearer <token from ~/.lazyweb/lazyweb_mcp_token>" --transport http-only
```

A fresh bridge process per client session or reconnect is expected. The client should close that process when the stdio session ends; if it does not, report the orphaned-process behavior to the client vendor. The bridge is experimental compatibility software, so prefer direct remote MCP whenever the client adds native support.

Telemetry note: the pinned bridge performs an additional transport-probe initialize named `mcp-remote-fallback-test`, and its outbound HTTP `User-Agent` is `node`. It also forwards the real stdio client's `clientInfo.name` with a `(via mcp-remote ...)` suffix. Do not count raw initialize events as end-user sessions: exclude the probe, group the forwarded initialize by the underlying client name, and deduplicate with the account/token identity and an appropriate time window.

## Authentication

Agents do not need a browser session. Run the canonical installer first, then use the bearer in `~/.lazyweb/lazyweb_mcp_token` for `https://www.lazyweb.com/mcp`.

Lazyweb MCP tokens are account-bound setup credentials, not proof of paid access. They do not unlock billing, purchases, private account data, or destructive actions. A local agent may place one in ignored local MCP config, but must not publish or commit it to shared repositories.

## Cursor Setup

In Cursor, MCP tools and `/lazyweb` skills are separate. Connecting `https://www.lazyweb.com/mcp` exposes Lazyweb MCP tools to Agent chat, but it does not add a slash command. Cursor slash skills require a local file at `.cursor/skills/lazyweb/SKILL.md` for a project or `~/.cursor/skills/lazyweb/SKILL.md` globally.

Fetch the complete Cursor setup guide at `https://www.lazyweb.com/cursor.md`.

## Local Coding Clients

Codex, Claude Code, Cursor, OpenCode, Kiro, Factory, Slate, Hermes, and Antigravity should use the standalone Lazyweb skill pack at `https://github.com/aboul3ata/lazyweb-skill`. The hosted installer clones or updates it and runs its `setup` script:

```bash
curl -fsSL https://www.lazyweb.com/install.sh | bash
# If the installer requests attribution, rerun with the five flags it prints using the user's real goal, discovery evidence, company (or explicit unknown), and intended outcome.
```

The setup script reads tokens from `LAZYWEB_MCP_TOKEN`, then `~/.lazyweb/lazyweb_mcp_token`, then creates one from `https://www.lazyweb.com/api/mcp/install-token`.

Fetch the complete Codex setup guide at `https://www.lazyweb.com/codex.md`.
Fetch the complete Claude setup guide at `https://www.lazyweb.com/claude.md`.

Fetch the complete ChatGPT setup guide at `https://www.lazyweb.com/chatgpt.md`.

## Pricing And Limits

Human browsing and MCP setup are free. Non-Pro accounts receive partial reports; MCP Pro includes full reports, priority capacity, and full agent research tools.

## Error Recovery

If MCP returns `unauthorized`, rerun the canonical installer and reload the client. If setup still fails, verify the MCP URL is `https://www.lazyweb.com/mcp` and contact ali@lazyweb.com.
